The GHMaps team is excited to announce a major new chapter for our mapping projects. After careful evaluation and community discussion, we have officially taken over the former Mario Maps for ETS2 and ATS. These maps will now be fully merged into our existing GHMaps projects: the Europe Extended Map and the America Extended Map.
This transition marks the beginning of a renewed, community‑driven vision — one focused on transparency, collaboration, and restoring the maps to a respected place within the modding world.
Addressing the Controversy Honestly
For many years, these maps have been surrounded by significant controversy regarding asset usage, permissions, and licensing. We want to acknowledge this openly.
GHMaps is committed to rebuilding these projects in a way that respects creators, honours community standards, and restores confidence in the work being done. Our goal is to bring the maps back into the good graces of the community through transparency, accountability, and collaboration.
Our Commitment to a Clean, Ethical Foundation
To ensure a legitimate and sustainable future for these maps, we are conducting a full audit of all inherited content. Over time, every unlicensed or questionable asset will be identified, removed, and replaced with original or properly licensed alternatives.
This is a large‑scale effort, but it is essential to rebuilding trust and ensuring these maps stand on a solid ethical foundation.
Throughout this process, the maps will remain available to players, and updates will continue as normal. Our goal is to preserve the gameplay experience while rebuilding the technical base the right way.
We Need the Community’s Expertise
To the modding community:
Your knowledge is invaluable.
If you recognise any assets within the old versions of the maps that may require removal, replacement, or proper credit, we encourage you to reach out. Your guidance will help us ensure that every creator’s work is respected and properly handled.
This collaboration is essential to restoring the integrity of the project.
Join the GHMaps Team — We’re Expanding
As we rebuild and expand the maps, we are actively looking for passionate creators to join the project. If you want to help shape the future of extended mapping, we’d love to hear from you.
We are currently seeking:
Mappers — to build new regions, cities, and road networks
3D Modellers — to create original, high‑quality, fully licensed assets
Texture Artists — to help replace legacy content
Testers — to ensure stability, quality, and smooth gameplay
General Contributors — for research, feedback, and asset identification
Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, your contribution can help shape the next generation of extended maps.
A Unified Future for Extended Mapping
By merging the former Mario Maps into our existing GHMaps projects, we are creating a unified, stable, and expandable foundation for the future. This integration allows us to deliver higher‑quality updates, maintain consistent standards, and push the boundaries of what extended mapping can achieve.
This is more than a transition — it is a transformation.
A chance to rebuild.
A chance to restore trust.
A chance to create something the entire community can be proud of.
Thank you for your support, your patience, and your passion for the world of trucking simulation.
Together, we are building a better future for extended mapping.
— The GHMaps Team
